By the time you read this, Warren Heckman—with two plates and 20 screws in his ankle—will be airborne from Uganda back to the States, due to arrive home in Minneapolis by mid-day Friday, September 11th, 2009. Amazingly, his escort and aide on the long flights will be none other than his predecessor as FCA-U.S. National Coordinator, Bob Forseth! As an answer to prayer, Bob and his wife, Sue, “just happened” to be in East Africa for a safari and were more than glad to help.

“The Lord has been answering prayer right and left,” says a jubilant Donna Heckman, Warren’s wife. “Even the airline” (KLM/Delta/Northwest) “was able to find him suitable seats at the last minute, at less cost than we originally thought.” FCA will be picking up the tab for this ticket exchange, since the accident occurred during the course of an FCA ministry trip.

Good news has also come from the Heckmans’ medical insurance company, which at first appeared not to cover overseas hospitalizations or doctor care. But the latest word is that they will cover it, pending review of the appropriate invoices.

“The last time I talked with my husband on the phone,” Donna reports, “he sounded like himself again. His spirits were revived, and I know the prayers of God’s people had everything to do with that. I’m so grateful.”
