There are 200 kinds of bamboo plants throughout the world, but the Chinese bamboo is one of the most fascinating. When you plant it, nothing seems to happen for five years. No shoot appears, not even a blade of grass. Then suddenly, almost overnight, it bursts up through the soil. A seedling pops through in just six weeks, it grows to 90 feet! Now, I ask you, “Does the Chinese bamboo grow 90 feet in six weeks? Or in five years?”
