On Tuesday, March 30, Rev. Dwain Saunders passed away suddenly in Edmonton at the age of 60. He was serving as pastor of Eagles Vision Fellowship (99th St. and 84th Ave.) and leaves behind his wife, Wanda, and a son and daughter.
Dwain was a man small in stature but he was a spiritual giant. He served God with energy, commitment and joy every day. His passion was for winning souls to Jesus and to see people set free from illness and pain.
He had a vision of a retreat centre north of Edmonton in Willingdon, Alberta for teens recovering from abuse, neglect and addiction. He had arranged the purchase of an old hospital and was struggling to make it work. Others will now have to take up the cause. Dwain will be missed.
The service to celebrate Dwain’s joyous entrance into the presence of the Saviour he loved and served will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Evangel Pentecostal Assembly, 4461 – 50th St. NW in Edmonton, at 11:00 a.m.
Like many men and women who have dedicated their whole lives to serving God in more obscure and poor areas, Dwain was not a man of wealth. His value was measured in the commitment to his service to God and to his church. His church was in the process of looking at membership in FCA Plus, Canadian FCA’s insurance program, however, they had not completed the process. Thus, Dwain’s children now face the heavy burden of funeral expenses (close to $10,000). His wife has been ill for many years and is not able to help.
We are encouraging as many churches and FCA members as possible to assist Dwain Saunders’ family with donations. Cheques may be made out to Eagles Vision Fellowship and sent to: Eagles Vision Fellowship, 9861 – 84th Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6E 2G1. At a time like this, it would be wonderful to come together as the family of God and show our love and caring.
