Pastor Henry Jauhiainen went to his eternal reward early Friday, July 3rd, with his family around his bedside.

Originally from the Copper Country of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In 1941 Henry became a member of Duluth Gospel Tabernacle before going to Pastor in Laurium, MI (from 1947-1950) and later returning to Duluth to serve as a Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor to E.C. Erickson there (from 1951 to 1956). He Pastored the church in Cloquet for a number of years (1956-1964) and later returned to Duluth to be Senior Pastor (1964-1975). He went on to serve a start-up congregation in Crystal Lake, Illinois from 1975 to 1993. After that, from 93-95, he ministered in Liberia, Ukraine, Russia, Karelia, and in Baraga, Michigan. In 1995 he and Maxine moved back to Duluth and continued ministry in many churches during his “retirement.”

Pastor Jauhiainen was much appreciated by our Fellowship for his leadership and long-range view of the FCA. He was a man who valued our history, so much so that he worked many years to help record the history of the FCA, but also looked to the future. He urged recognition and appreciation for the earlier Pentecostal pioneers of the Fellowship. He collected and maintained historical records of the FCA, but he also initiated ad hoc discussions in the 1980s regarding the “Future of the Fellowship” as a forward-looking group of pastors working on ministry collaboration.

The funeral for Pastor Jauhiainen will be held July 18 at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, IA, preceded by visitation from 1 pm to 3. Maxine’s contact information: 1129 74th St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, 319-826-1508.
